One failed 4-credit subject drops SGPA by 1.86 points. The failed subject stays in the denominator but contributes zero to the numerator. That’s how much weight high-credit core courses carry.

How Is CGPA Calculated Across All Semesters?

Why 9.5 and not 10? CBSE derived this multiplier by analyzing average percentage scores at each grade point across years of board exam data. The result caps a perfect 10.0 CGPA at 95%, not 100%.
